Merry Christmas Allstate and New York State!! Together, you have screwed me out of hundreds of $$!!

I knew somehow yesterday afternoon that the police would enter my life within the next 24 hours, I just wasn't sure in what capacity. This is really not about the police officer who was very nice really, it is about the countless amount of paperwork and medial tasks required in order to be eligible to drive and own a car. It is an amount of paperwork so immense that I simply cannot keep up with it.

First, I am sort of lying about the Allstate part, however do not mistake this for the fact that I despise them. I am lying because they personally didn't make much money off of me, instead they played an integral role in allowing NYS to abuse me once again. It is even more upsetting to know that I made a conscious and deliberate effort to make sure this wouldn't happen again.

It all started when I made the innocent decision to consolidate my three separate checking accounts into one to save myself some hassle. Consequently, I updated all my automatic payments with the new account information, I felt very proud of how responsible I was to take care of that task right away.

Low and behold, about 30 days later I received a letter from the DMV that I am driving without insurance. I promptly logged onto my Allstate account knowing this was a terrible mistake, to find that my payment was declined because for some reason they were still deducting it from the old account. Allstate spared no time in cancelling my policy, assuming that I must be completely bankrupt and unable to pay them ever again so why bother keeping me on? I responsibly made the payment with the late fee, they accepted the payment and I assumed that I was insured.

--but not the case at all! I was most definitely not insured, in fact I was driving around without insurance and Allstate was enjoying my monthly payment!

I called and yelled and screamed and threatened Allstate for my payment back, as recent as last night. I told them I had already reported them to the insurance commissioner and they were thieves. However, if I allowed anyone to speak I would have known that back in November they had credited the money back my account. I guess I spent the money so fast I didn't even notice it in my account, but I still hate them and as far as I am concerned it's still their fault.

In the interim, I received a letter from the DMV stating something about a civil penalty and a suspension order. Another task to worry about on the list of infinite tasks, I honestly put it in a drawer buried under a bunch of socks. I wanted to review it at a time that my mind could better digest everything that was happening to me.

Well, a time for my mind to digest the letter never arrived on it's own. This morning, I had only 13 PSI in my tires when it's supposed to be 37. Against my better judgement I stopped at the Stewarts on Bradywine were the scumbags can be found to put air in my tire. I cannot imagine that I was the most fascinating person to ever put air in their tire at this particular Stewarts, but evidently I must have been.

Well, I wanted Starbucks, but I didn't want to drive backwards away from work so I decided that I would stop at Styvesant Plaza and drive towards work. My intuition was very wrong because this is where I was pulled over. I should have just backtracked, I mean what is the difference? sometimes I think I am so logical and I really just ridicolous!

I did happen to get a new insurance policy a few weeks ago, so thankfully I was insured, and miraculously I had the new insurance cards in the purse I happened to grab that morning (not my license, though, of course!).

I couldn't distract the officer from noticing that besides the registration issue caused by the insurance lapse and the failure to pay the penalty ---my inspection was due in August and never obtained. I have a reason for this, but it was too complex to even argue it or expect anyone else to understand. It has to do with all these tasks I am always drowning in, and the attempt to consolidate them. I have learned do not consolidate anything, it makes life more unbearable than when the entities exist separately

Now I have a bunch of tickets and fines totaling over $700.00, so NYS is having the best Christmas ever!! They just couldnt get through the year without robbing me somehow. I wonder how they will allocate my hard earned money?

Not mention an even worse fate... I now need to find a damn stamp (and an envelope) to mail in those tickets!! Will I be able to accomplish this?

Probably not, because I already renewed my registration on time, ordered the new plates (didnt get a chance to actually put them on my car but that is besides the point), transfered the lienholder on my car title (VERY complex) and added more pages to my passport (required that I locate a FedEX box which is also very complex).

I am not sure how much more of these tasks I am actually capable of at this point, I mean I have a full time job and I am serving jury duty!
